Conservative Group Leader Councillor Russell Bernstein has delivered a letter to Bury South MP Christian Wakeford seeking his current views on Bury Labours plan to butcher the Simister greenbelt. In his letter Councillor Bernstein reminds the Bury South MP that before he betrayed the 22034 people in the constituency who voted Conservative at the 2019 General Election he was a firm advocate for saving the greenbelt and had been vociferous in the need to save Simister Village from any building of houses on the greenbelt. Councillor Bernstein has called on Christian Wakeford MP to reiterate his previous support for the greenbelt in spite of Bury Labours desire to concrete over the green and pleasant land of the Bury South constituency.
Councillor Bernstein said ‘whilst I know Christian is trying to reinvent himself politically and distance himself from the things he said when 22034 people voted Conservative in December 2019 surely he can at least stand up for the people of Simister Village and speak out against Bury Labours plans to destroy the greenbelt’
Bury Conservatives urge people in Bury South to contact Chrisitian for his views on the butchering of our greenbelt.
