Bury MBCs recent budget meeting on the 20th February was a devastating indictment on the Labour Party's financial mismanagement of tax payers money.
Labour have continually made the wrong choices over many years and we are now paying the price. Chronic under investment in our highway network has led to £3,226,509 being spent on highway insurance claims.
Council tax increased yet again, 18% over the last 4 years but what benefit do residents see? The cost to tax payers is actually over 20% when the GM Mayor precept is factored in. Under the rule of Bury Labour, services are cut but the tax burden continues to increase.
Labour are using £5 million of earmarked reserves to plug the gap created by their inability to stick to their own savings plan.
Rather than investing in front-line services to benefit Bury residents, Bury Labour spend millions on outside consultants, agency staff and highly paid directors. Bury Labour are driving our council to the edge of bankruptcy and we desperately need change.
Cllr James Daly states, "Our plan would mean millions invested in front-line services by re-directing funds that Labour continue to waste and creating new income streams to support the council's finances".
