Bury North and South Conservative Association are deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of the Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr. David Greenhalgh.
David was a kind, witty, generous man with time for anyone and everyone. He was a dear friend to so many of our councillors, officers, and members, and his advice and support was invaluable to the Association - both in his position as Chairman of Greater Manchester Area Conservatives and as our Area Representative.
Becoming the first Conservative leader of Bolton Council in four decades, David led our neighbours with courage and conviction through an unprecedented pandemic, promoting cross-party collaboration and always fighting to improve his town for the better. He also brought our Conservative associations here in Greater Manchester closer together in that same spirit of openness and collaboration, offering mentorship, guidance, and friendship to so many of us.
His passion and dedication will be irreplaceable, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The thoughts and prayers of Bury North and South Conservative Association are with his family, friends, and loved ones at this time.
