Cllr Liam Dean joined Chief Superintendent Chris Hill and the GMP Specials in Walmersley this evening as part of Operation Saturn to ensure our streets are safer.
The action evening was organised after Cllr Dean contacted Chief Superintendent Hill following complaints from local residents regarding the unacceptable level of speeding and anti-social driving that takes places down Walmersley Road. The project also follows the tragic death of a driver in a collision earlier in the month further down Walmersley Road in Moorside Ward.
Cllr Liam James Dean, Councillor for North Manor was quoted
It was absolutely fantastic to be out with GMP in Walmersley to tackle speeding and anti-social behaviour and driving.
This is what residents talk to me about all the time - and up until now they've been right to be concerned.
I'm really pleased GMP have come out with me this evening, we've had some really positive results and I look forward to working with them on behalf of residents in the future
Chief Superintendent Chris Hill in the GMP article comments:
Operation Saturn is about getting back to basics and working with partners and communities in the right place and the right time to really make a difference.
"This is about high visibility and getting officers out onto the streets to listen to what our communities have to say and to help provide that protective and reassuring presence. It's also about sending a message to offenders that GMP is here and we will take action wherever it's needed to bring this type of offending right down.
Greater Manchester Police issued a Press Release on what Operation Saturn was and how they plan to crack down on Anti-Social behaviour. The full article can be found here.
